The Cisco Networking Academy Program teaches students valuable
Internet technology skills, including networking, Web design,
IT Essentials, Cabling, Java and UNIX. The Academy Curriculum
covers a broad range of topics from basics on how to build a
network to how to build a website and more complex IT concepts
such as applying advanced troubleshooting tools. |

CCNA
Courses 1 through 4
CCNA Courses 1 through 4 of the Academy program, equivalent
to 280 hours of instruction, provide students with a basic foundation
in networking. Students who successfully complete this portion
of the program are eligible to earn Cisco Certified Network
Associate (CCNA™) certification. The first four courses are
available at the secondary and post-secondary levels. >> More

Courses 1 through 4
Courses 1 through 4 of the Academy program, also equivalent

about complex network configurations and how to diagnose and
troubleshoot network problems. Students who successfully complete
the advanced curriculum are eligible to earn Cisco Certified
Network Professional (CCNP™) certification. The second four
courses of the curriculum will be taught primarily at the post-secondary

IT Essentials
I: PC Hardware and Software
IT Essentials I: PC Hardware and Software, sponsored by
Hewlett-Packard Company, presents an in-depth exposure
to computer hardware and operating systems. Students learn
the functionality of hardware and software components as
well as suggested best practices in maintenance, and safety
issues. Through hands on activities and labs, students learn
how to assemble and configure a computer, install operating
systems and software, and troubleshoot hardware and
software problems. In addition, an introduction to
networking is included. This course helps students prepare

II: Network Operating Systems
IT Essentials II: Network Operating Systems, sponsored by
Hewlett-Packard Company, is an intensive introduction to
multi-user, multi-tasking network operating systems.
Characteristics of the Linux, Windows 2000, NT, and XP
network operating systems will be discussed. Students will
explore a variety of topics including installation procedures,

Fundamentals
of Java Programming
Fundamentals of Java Programming, sponsored by Sun Microsystems,
is a 70-hour course which provides a conceptual understanding
of Object Oriented programming. The course also teaches students
how to use the JAVA language's object oriented technologies
to solve business problems. Topics also include the language
fundamentals, the Java language API (application programming
interface). Students will learn how to create classes, objects
and applications using the language. Additionally, the course
will address the demand for training and preparation for the
Sun Certified Programmer for JavaTM 2 Platform. >> More

of UNIX
Fundamentals of UNIX sponsored by Sun Microsystems
teaches students how to use UNIX operating system
commands and, in the hands-on exercises, basic Sun
Microsystems' Solaris™ operating environment commands,
and introduces you to the Common Desktop Environment
(CDE - graphical interface between different environments).
The class is intended for new users of UNIX. Students will
learn fundamental command-line features of the Solaris
environment including file system navigation, file permissions,
the vi text editor, command shells and basic network use.
