The Cisco Networking Academy Program at the University Informatique
Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso was established in January of 2001.
It has been equipped with computers since the beginning and
there is a capacity of one computer per student.
Initially, the Regional Academy planned to begin by training
students from public schools, in an effort to extend this
training opportunity to people of diverse education levels.
There is some delay to working with these schools, due to
the fact that they need government authorization to participate
in the Networking Academy Program and to become Local Academies.
As a result, the Regional Academy consequently decided to
begin conducting classes for IT professionals. Recruitment
is underway. There are two part-time instructors who are from
the Computer Science Center (Centre Informatique) of Ouagadougou.
